Several of our CAI Bay Area and Central Board of Directors and volunteer leaders attended this year’s LeadHERship Conference on February 26 and 27, 2020 in Westlake Village, California. This year’s theme was “Finding the Balance: Mind, Body, Self.

CAI BayCen attendees included: Laura Ravazza, PCAM, CCAM-PM with HMC Property Management Co., Mandi Begley-Newton, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Varsity Painting, and Janet Quinn Dennis with Quinn Dennis Mediation and Consulting and Pro Solutions, Betina Hunt with HMC Property Management Co., and Betina’s daughter, Molly Schessow.

Balancing the demands of a rapidly changing business environment and a hectic personal life requires nerves of steel – and a strong set of business skills. Yet many leaders, especially women, find themselves juggling multiple responsibilities without the professional experience, self-confidence or organizational tools needed to be successful. The goal is to find balance between our professional and personal responsibilities without compromising ourselves.

The two-day conference was an amazing combination of inspiration, education, friendship's (new & old), great food and lots of laughs! Key takeaways for other industry colleagues and friends struggling to find a work-life balance is to start focusing on these four areas:

  • Empowerment through Self Positivity
  • Practice Self Leadership by self-awareness, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, self-regard, self-care and self-less
  • Improve team collaboration to be more effective and productive
  • Celebrate your successes!

And last, never underestimate the power in “lightening up!” So many people (especially women) can often be hard on themselves, as well as others. Finding joy in who we are and what we do is the real key to our overall wellbeing and happiness.

We highly recommended attending a future LeadHERship Conference. You can learn more about LeadHERship Consortium, LLC and upcoming events here

You’ll also be able to hear Dr. Lori Baker-Schena from the LeadHERship Consortium, LLC at our upcoming Ladies Tea event. Dr. Lori will discuss strategies for confronting the unique challenges that women face in ascending to leadership positions in this industry. We strongly encourage you to register to attend!
